DIY Marquees have a Large Range of Superior Marquees for Sale

by on May.03, 2023, under DIY Marquee

A marquee can be a versatile and elegant setting for a variety of events. If you’re in the market for professional tents for sale because you are planning to hire a marquee for an event, here is some marquee hire advice that could be useful.

Consider the type of event you’re planning: The type of event you’re hosting will determine the size and style of marquee you need. For example, a wedding may require a more formal and elegant marquee, while a festival or outdoor party may require a more casual and laid-back marquee.

Choose a suitable location: You’ll need to find a location that’s suitable for your marquee. Make sure the area is level and has adequate drainage. Check if there are any underground utilities or obstacles that could interfere with the marquee’s installation.

Determine the size of the marquee: Knowing how many guests you’re expecting will help you determine the size of the marquee you need. You’ll also need to consider other factors such as the furniture, staging, and dance floor that you’ll be using.

Plan for weather conditions: You should prepare for various weather conditions by renting heaters, fans, or air conditioning units depending on the time of year. Consider adding extra side panels to your marquee in case of rain or wind.

With careful planning and attention to detail, hiring a marquee can be a great way to create a memorable and unique event so consider the DIY Premium tents for sale.

When considering how to go about cleaning a marquee, can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s important to keep it clean and well-maintained to ensure its longevity and usability. General steps you can follow to clean your marquee include preparing a cleaning solution by mixing a mild cleaning solution in a bucket of warm water and using a mild detergent or a specialized tent cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals, bleach or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the material.

Once you have your cleaning solution, remove any loose debris by sweep the exterior of the marquee with a broom or use a soft-bristled brush to remove any loose dirt, leaves, or debris. Wet down the exterior of the marquee starting at the top and working your way down. This will help remove any remaining debris and prepare the surface for cleaning. Using a soft-bristled brush or a sponge, gently scrub the exterior of the marquee with the cleaning solution, paying attention to any areas with stains or mildew. Be careful not to apply too much pressure as this can damage the fabric. Rinse thoroughly with a hose to remove any soap residue.

Once you’ve finished cleaning, allow the marquee to air dry completely before storing it away. Once the marquee is completely dry, fold it carefully and store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing it in a damp or humid area as this can lead to mould growth. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help extend the life of your marquee and ensure that it’s always in good condition for your next event.

Come visit DIY Marquees at this years Showman’s Show

THE SHOWMAN’S SHOW 2015

DIY Marquees specialise in selling marquees, marquee Lighting and party tents and just had notification that we will be on stand 262 Avenue Eat this year’s Showmans Show. Come out of the entrance marquee, turn right and then first left – we’re halfway up on the right as usual and opposite the excellent Arcotherm (well worth a visit for marquee heaters). Please do pop in and say hello, we’ll be launching our new range of demi-marquees as well as exhibiting our always popular walkways and other marquees including Pop up Marquees.

The marquee hire business I built up got to a sufficient size that I could not be on site for every job. We would be running several teams of erectors with me and another site foreman running between each site. I turned up one afternoon to find a team nearly finished. The marquees were up, the flooring and linings were fitted and they were just setting up the furniture.

The quality of finish was excellent. They proudly stated the only thing left was the walkway to the house “and they’re easy”. Walkways are easy to erect, indeed our current model of walkway is the easiest one we’ve ever designed. They are not easy to erect if you don’t leave enough space for it – as this team had done!

The lesson to learn from this is when connecting marquees to houses always always start building from the house outwards. Build the walkway (or one of our demi-marquees, details coming soon) first and then butt the main marquee(s) up to it. That way you know you’ve allowed enough space or know you’ve got to do some adapting to make fit before you get too far in to the build. As for the job in question it was solved using a hacksaw and PVC welding to still give an excellent job but it turned an early-finish day in to a late night one for everyone.

Can’t decide which marquee to puchase?

by on Sep.15, 2014, under DIY Marquee, Party Planning

Useful information from DIY Marquee will help you make the right decision in purchasing a marquee. This can be especially useful if you are looking at purchasing a commercial DIY Marquee.

6x4m marquee or 4x6m marquee?

In the marquee industry there is not a huge amount of terminology for someone new to the scene to get used to. One is getting used to feet and metres and how to switch between the two (3m=10ft essentially), most customers prefer everything in metres but you still get some that need it in feet.

Another standard to get used to is that when talking marquees the width comes first and the length second. A 4x6m marquee is very different to a 6x4m one for example.

4x6m Classic DIY Marquee

A 4x6m Marquee means that the A-frames are 4m wide and it is 6m long (three 2m bays).

6x4m Classic DIY Marquee

A 6x4m marquee on the other hand has 6m wide A-frames and is 4m long (two 2m bays).

Why offer both?

The most popular way of covering a 4x6m area is with a 4x6m marquee, there are however times when this is not the best option.

  • If you already own a 6m wide marquee or have spare 6m metalwork then you can just buy a 6x4m roof and therefore increase your hiring potential without buying a complete new 4x6m marquee.
  • If the marquee is going up against a house then it is far easier having the gable butted up for weathering and access purposes. If the customer needs the 6m side of the marquee up against the house then it is best practice to go with a 6x4m marquee rather than a 4x6m one.

So if you looking for a DIY Party Tent or any other Marquee look no further DIY Marquees will assist with the right Marquee to buy.

Expert advice on buying marquees

by on May.06, 2014, under DIY Marquee

DIY Marquees have a fabulous range of marquees for sale, the largest ranges in the UK. They are a professional team of people who pride themselves in being the leaders in marquee sales, they will give you advice on Marquee Flooring, décor and size of the marquee. Read some useful information on BUYERS GUIDE when making a decision on what marquee to purchase.

What size of marquee do I need?
When looking to buy a marquee the first thing to do is decide what size(s) of marquee you need, only then can you decide which range of marquee is most suitable for you.

There are several ways of calculating this:

  • Measure your garden. If space is limited your guest list may be restricted by the maximum size of marquee able to fit in the space.
  • If your garden is an awkward size then consider using more than one marquee connected together to cover the space. Multiple marquees can take a little more thought in planning a successful party but please contact us; we’re marquee specialists and are here to help.
  • If you need help in picturing the layout of a marquee then check out our interactive marquee planner and experiment with different layouts.

the classic diy marquee range

The following size guide shows the capacity (seated or standing) or each size of marquee. Size guides can vary greatly; this is due to the variety of ways a marquee can be used. For example a 6x12m marquee can seat 70-80 people at round tables but if you allow for buffet tables and/or a dance floor then the capacity is reduced.

Click on the size marquee you require and you will then be taken to the ranges we offer in that size of marquee.

If you are in any doubt over the size marquee you require please contact us with your requirements and we would be more than happy to put together some sample layouts for you.

DIY Marquee raising marquees to new heights

by on Mar.20, 2014, under DIY Marquee

As you may have noticed our website has changed, this is due to our expansion in to other ranges of marquees. We now have five ranges of marquees across 23 different sizes of marquee culminating in over 70 different marquees to choose from, we believe this means we have the largest range of marquees available for sale in the UK and hope to have the marquee to suit any requirement. We also now stock a heavy duty range of pop-ups and pagodas.

Our two new cheaper ranges probably won’t be of interest to you as a hire company – the party tent range including DIY Party Tent and Pop-Up DIY Marquee range uses PE fabric (only suitable for occasional domestic use) and our new Classic range is made using 500gsm PVC but without the features we believe are essential to hire companies – I wouldn’t recommend hiring out a 6m marquee without eave braces for example.

Our new Professional range should prove popular in the hire industry; it is based on our Commercial framework but with a heavier duty 650gsm PVC roof.

As always our new products and ranges come from feedback from customers (thank you) and our own experience. This is why we are one of the leading designers and suppliers of marquees in Europe. Which we’re quite chuffed about to be honest.

We always like to hear feedback regarding our marquees or website so if you have anything to add or any new product ideas please always send them along.

Are you looking to buy a marquee?

by on Jul.16, 2013, under DIY Marquee

DIY Marquees have an amazing range of marquees for sale and party tents for sale. Marquees are available in a range of sizes and a range of qualities. The better quality marquees use thicker steel framework (34mm upwards) and PVC covers rather than PE or poly/PVC. The weight of the PVC material used on the marquees (measured in gsm -grams per square meter) is an indication of the thickness but not the quality, the true strength of PVC comes from the inner core material before it is coated.

Marquee purchase should be done with much research and carefully. When looking to buy a marquee as well as looking at the materials used you should also look at the design and functionality of the marquee. With a good design additional bracing can make a marquee stronger eliminating the need for a thicker framework. Having interchangeable side panels can give much greater functionality so a marquee can be tailored for any site on which it is erected.
