There can only be one way to celebrate Lady Wimbledon’s birthday and the festive season with the biggest party of the year.

Wimbledon’s finest came together including the Mayor of Merton, Eyes of Lady W bloggers, Darling Magazine editors Karine Torr and Marja-Leena, and Wimbledon Brewery, with celeb guests such as Big Brother winner Jason Burrill and music artists Malory Torr, So Solid’s Twin MCs, Lord TCO and Wordz, this party was the place to be – even if it was only a Wednesday night.

With a beautiful Trafalgar marquees that seamlessly became an extension out from the venue, guests were able to dance the night away as well as chill out on the sofas inside the marquee under the romantic chandelier and starlit roof lighting.

The venue was decked out in festive decor with Christmas wreath and floral arrangements by Brian Kirkby and light up trees by Room Remedies.

Brilliant catering team of NC Supper Clubs put together a delicious menu for the crowd to enjoy. Marquee Hire Sussex have had a successful year with many special winter marquee events, delivering a solution that beats the elements, adds sparkle, whilst keeping guests warm and toasty, is always their pleasure. It was hard to choose just 2 winter events to feature in this blog, but we’ve selected a variety of different occasions to highlight the solutions a marquee can provide.

1) BBSRC 20th Anniversary

Another significant event, the BBSRC 20th Anniversary celebration, pulled out all the stops. Taking place on land next to the Museum of Childhood in East London we provided marquees for an exhibition and informal drinks reception on the opening evening. This enabled the client to have a separate event space creating a special focus for this special anniversary.

As well as providing the marquee we also supplied lighting, power, heating and support technicians on site.

2) Chessington Garden Centre

We have been delighted to work with Chessington Garden Centre for a number of years providing marquess for both their Halloween and Christmas events. Chessington Garden Centre’s Christmas Grotto is legendary and is the second largest in the country (after the Trafford Centre). For an event of this size, attracting so many extra visitors, it is inevitable that additional space is needed.

We have been delighted to supply marquees to extend the café area so that the many hungry families can refuel in a warm and dry environment after visiting the big man in the red suit.

Marquee Hire loved being part of beautiful bride Angela’s wedding to Neil on the 26^th August 2017. Angela designed her own wedding dress, which we made to measure to fit her perfectly, in champagne satin and gold lace.  From the moment we first met this relaxed and charming bride-to-be, Angela was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Providing the marquee for such a happy occasion and be part of making special couples dream come true. The finishing touches were chosen to add to the occasion, ensuring every detail was taken care of. As they were married in August, the floral designer put together the most glorious summer bouquets, table decorations and flower arch in gorgeous pink and white roses.

Angela and Neil chose to marry at St Lawrence’s Church in Lurgashall, followed by a relaxed reception in a stunning marquee from Marquee Hire Cobham.

Marquee Hire recently provided the marquee and furniture for Buckland Park Lake photoshoot, a new and exclusive winter wedding venues Surrey. Buckland Park Lake is set within the Surrey Hills Area, between Reigate and Dorking, is a unique new wedding space, which blends tranquillity with dramatic, breath-taking views.

This beautiful venue is perfect for a winter wedding as it offers bespoke weddings for couples looking for a beautiful, natural and magical space to celebrate in, Buckland Park Lake ticks all the boxes.

The 2,000 square metre landscaped and level lawn offers the perfect location for wedding marquee hire, with plenty of space for catering tent, posh toilets, outdoor seating and space for guests to mingle and enjoy the unique space. The intimate walkways and viewpoints beyond the tree line offer guests view over the sparkling lake and couples a stunning backdrop for their photos.

The lawn is level and landscaped, with viewing terraces over the lake. The venue can provide power and water on site along with secure parking. There is also disabled access.

We know that many people can think of marquees as just for summer weddings, put up and used for a weekend, a short-term solution for a one-off event. However, increasingly more of our business is coming from long-term Marquee Hire, and you may be surprised at the type of events bespoke marquees are used for.

One of our long-term clients is The Royal Society and for the last few years, we have provided a marquee for their Summer Science Exhibition. For those of you unfamiliar with The Royal Society, it is situated in Carlton Terrace overlooking The Mall and is a building steeped in history. It is a beautiful space inside but is not big enough to sustain a long exhibition. That is where Trafalgar and JF Marquees stepped in to help.

We erected a 9 x 48-metre marquee on Carlton Terrace, which afforded great views of The Mall for all attendees. It also meant that the exhibition would not be affected if the Great British Summer Weather did its’ worst. In addition to the structure of the marquee, we provided chairs, tables, marquee lining and lighting in the form of chandeliers.

As always, access and egress for a Central London installation, was interesting, especially as the Tour of Britain was taking place at the same time. But, with precise planning, we pulled off even the most challenging of set ups and takedowns.

Another long-term client is Chessington Garden Centre.  With this project, we get to contribute to the magic of Christmas by providing a marquee to host their Christmas Grotto. The Garden Centre itself is using space to its’ capacity at Christmas time, selling Christmas trees and decorations, so we provide a marquee on their patio area that keeps Father Christmas and all his visitors warm and dry.

As well as the marquee, Marquee Hire also provided heating and lighting and roof overlay in festive colours. The versatility of a marquee space also means the client can update and create the theme they want as they are literally starting with a blank canvas. Families travel for miles to visit the Chessington Garden Centre Christmas Experience and we are proud to contribute to such a successful event.

We’ve had some great news at Trafalgar and JF Marquees in the last few weeks.  Our Managing Director, James Morris, has been nominated as Young Director of the Year at the IoD (Institute of Directors) awards. Firstly, this means we get to attend a glitzy awards ceremony (well we’ve got to get our priorities straight!), but becoming a finalist in such prestigious awards means a whole heap of other positive things for our business too.

Recognition

With the IoD awards there was a stringent application process which included a written entry and an interview.  To become a finalist is great recognition for a job well done by our Managing Director, James and shows that the company is on the right track.

Publicity

Well you are reading this blog, aren’t you?  Becoming an awards finalist is a great good news story for us to share among our clients, suppliers and associates, and we’ve already had some lovely messages of congratulations.  We think it also increases our client’s confidence that they have made a great choice in choosing us for their marquee requirements.

Motivation

The announcement of James’ nomination was a great morale boost in the office and has really spurred us on to make 2017 a fantastic year at Trafalgar and JF Marquees.  Knowing that your work is recognised as some of the best by an organisation like the IoD is a great accolade.

Reflection

Taking part in any awards nomination process is a great way of reflecting on how far your business has come and where you want it to go next.  It has helped us formulate ongoing plans for the business and reflect on some of the most positive things in our business, as a whole.

It is very easy to forget to celebrate the wins in our businesses, so an occasion like this is a great opportunity to recognise that.  All that’s left to do now is make sure that tux is dry cleaned before the finals on the 17th May!
