Mothers’ Day Marked By Lodge Brothers Esher

Lodge Brothers Funeral Directors Esher staff remembered those Mothers no longer with us by displaying flowers and a beautiful poem in the branch windows, inviting all to come in and share their special memories.

District Manager Bill Wilde said “It is a special time of year to celebrate our Mothers, and at Lodge Brothers we wanted to be able to offer the local community the chance to remember those who are no longer with us. Mums may have passed away but it doesn’t mean that we ever forget them.
Many passers by have come into the branches to say how much they have enjoyed the displays and the efforts of the staff”.

Lodge Brothers funeral directors Chertsey and Lodge Brothers funeral directors Hampton Hill as well as all the other Lodge Brother funeral directors throughout the UK joined in the Easter festivities by decorating their shop front and joining the community with various initiatives:

Remembrance Day commemorated

by on Nov.07, 2014, under Funeral Services

A Woking man has devoted the last few months to putting together a display to commemorate not only all those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and later conflicts, but also in memory of his Father and Son.

Neville Lazenby wanted to create the display to thank Lodge Brothers Funeral Directors of Goldsworth Road, for the way they looked after his son Steven after he died of a brain tumour in January 2012.  Neville and his wife Janette have remained in contact with Paul Thurtle (Branch Manager) since Paul arranged their son’s funeral.

In this very special year marking the 100th anniversary of Britain entering the First World War, Neville decided to design and build a window display for the Woking Branch of Lodge Brothers.

The picture shows Neville and Paul with the display.

Neville has included a picture of his father, Sergeant Ralph Lazenby who died in 2003.  He was an original member of the SAS in 1941.  He was sent out to the Middle East, was captured and then imprisoned in Stalag 357.

Also remembered in the display is Woking resident Walter ‘Charlie’ Brown OBE who died in 2010.

Neville also included in the display four detailed replica figures of soldiers from his collection.  The soldiers and the display have been causing a lot of interest from local people passing by the window.

Paul and all the Lodge Brothers branches such as Funeral Directors Ashford, Funeral Directors Feltham, Funeral Directors Woking, Funeral Directors Chertsey and Funeral Directors Englefield Green are extremely grateful to Neville and Janette for their generosity in using their time and talents to create a fantastic window display.

Over 2 years of planning and evaluation came to fruition this month with the launch of a new coaching and training scheme for Chauffeur/Bearers at Lodge Brothers Head Office in Feltham.

The initiative runs parallel to the existing training programme but is much more in depth and allows staff to develop both their skills and their career, and is totally unique to Lodge Brothers.

The scheme has 5 levels matched to staffs’ experience, ranging from new entrants to the most experienced Chauffeur/Bearer.  Staff are able to gain knowledge and experience outside their normal duties together with acquiring life skills such as communications, leadership and management.

As staff progress through the scheme they are rewarded to reflect their achievements, which are carefully monitored.

Lodge Brothers Director Janet Lodge said, ‘The initiative has already given Lodge Brothers funeral directors Twickenham Chauffeur Bearers more peripheral knowledge of their work which has resulted in an even better service for our clients’.

After just two and a half years with the company, Sheila Sherwood, Funeral Arranger at AV Smith & Sons, Hillingdon, is leaving to start a new career with British Airways at nearby Heathrow Airport. In her time with Lodge Brothers, Sheila has arranged just over 250 funerals. She has endeared herself to clients with her calm and empathetic manner, and her colleagues admire lively sense of humour and teamwork.

Her office is festooned with ‘thank-you’ cards from grateful clients and, as this web-site will testify, a whole raft of testimonials.

Our local vicar at St John’s Church, Hillingdon, Reverend Robert Harrison commented, “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Sheila; she has such a kind and caring nature that is so reassuring for bereaved families. She has been an integral part of the very fabric of Hillingdon village life and she will be sorely missed”.

Sheila said, “I have really enjoyed working for Lodge Brothers; the people are fantastic and the job is extremely satisfying, however, I just feel ready for a career move.”

Lodge Brother are here to help in time of need

by on Jan.18, 2014, under Funeral Planning, Funeral Services, Personal

District Manager Bill Wilde covers quite a few miles at this time of year playing Santa when not looking after clients. Gifts on behalf of the Directors and staff at lodgebros.co.uk are delivered out to nursing and residential homes for staff and residents to enjoy.

Bill said, “The planning starts as early as September which is when I start getting the presents ready and distributed out to each of the branches in my District. As soon as December arrives, every opportunity I get, I am out on the road delivering until the task is complete. Covering a large area, which includes Esher, Addlestone, Weybridge, Walton and Windsor, needs some planning.

But it is worth it especially when I see the enjoyment it brings. My job looking after families is very important, but this is something that I really enjoy at this time of year”.

Lodge Brothers understand how difficult decisions can be especially when its children, they have a large selection of Childrens Memorials and will help you make the right choice.
