What are the M&S equations?

In the 1980s Marks & Spencer, in conjunction with Instrumental Colour Systems, developed their own in-house equations that are used in the textile industry. Research shows that there is little to choose between the CMC and M&S equations in terms of overall performance. The fact that the M&S equations have never been published has restricted their use.
